workout fuel/energy variety pack giveaway!

disclaimer: the following post is a giveaway of products i purchased with my own money (the vega sport i did receive in exchange for a review posted last week). i was not asked to represent or giveaway these products from any brand in the post, nor was i compensated for this post in any way. all opinions and views expressed are my own. i'm just a nice person, ya'll!



with this annoying new diet i'm starting, my acceptable foods list is very, very limited. this means, all of the running fuel or workout energy supplements i use are no longer an option for me. instead of trashing everything i own out the window, i decided to giveaway a few things i had stashed in my pantry. 

the winner of this fuel/energy variety pack giveaway will receive:
  • 5 individual packets of vega sport's sugar free energizer (lemon lime flavor)
  • 5 individual packets of eboost (pink lemonade flavor)
  • 4 individual packets of clif shot gel (strawberry flavor)

  1. I am so sorry that your diet has become limited but this is so generous of you to be giving your stuff away! My favorites so far are Honey stinger waffles but I have been gradually trying new stuff. I see a few things on your list i'd like to try. -M

    1. It is a bummer, but it's personal growth, right? Being forced out of my comfort zone and into creative problem solving! I'm going to look into baby food as a possible option... I have been surprised to see so many fans of Honey Stinger on this post. I think they are a brand that I've over looked! Since honey is on my "ok" list, maybe they will have something that will work!

  3. As a fairly new distance walker/runner I've only tried the beans and the gu, so I am on the lookout for something new!

    1. My problem with beans is that I like to snack on them - same with anything gummy. Is that weird? So GUs tend to be a better mental texture - fuel, rather than snack. There is so much to try - have fun with it!

  4. I have to say I haven't tried many of these. My go to fuels are honey stinger products. I love the Honey Stinger fruit smoothie gels for marathon training and the waffles as a quick pre-race snack.

    1. Honey Stinger is winning a lot of fans on this post! I've tried their waffles and the gels before and they are pretty good! Haven't heard of the fruit smoothies though, will need to check them out!

  5. I've been a fan of gu and it worked really well for me when I did my first marathon. I just finished my college xc and track eligibility a year ago so I'm just now getting into road racing and am looking to try any new things! The eboost looks good to me!

    1. Congrats on being a college athlete! That's wonderful! GU has been my go-to during races for a long time, but I think it is always worth experimenting and trying new things. Clif has been my most recent fave b/c of the caffeine (and it's a little cheaper than GU)

I mostly use Lara bars right now before my workouts....But I really like the Bonk Bites...They are a perfect size and just the right amount of energy needed for my runs...also, they taste super yummy! But I'm hearing lots of good things about the Salted Caramel GU lately....might give that a shot !:)

    1. Bonk Bites! I LOVE Bonk Bars! They were my pre-half marathon fuel! You know, GU has a salted watermelon flavor as well that sounds like it is worth checking out...

  9. I'ved used to GU Roctane Ultra Endurance Energy Gel, Blueberry Pomegranate and the Muscle Pharm MuscleGel Shots.

    1. I have LOVED Gu Roctane - great caffeine boost and the flavors are good. I haven't tried Muscle Pharm before, but will check them out! Thanks for sharing :)

  10. I take a Hammer Enduralyte before long runs and races during the summer and use GU to fuel during the run. I'm not too exciting :)

  11. Am I even eligible?

    Anyway... I've found that the margarita shot bloks are the best fuel for me during hot weather. Crushes side stitches and tastes pretty good. Only downside is that you need water when you take it. Benefits are probably similar to Gatorade or any other dextrose based electrolyte fuel but easier to carry around while traveling/running.
