my race bucket list

there are so many amazing races out there. i've barely scratched the surface in the ones i know about. so i followed the trend of starting a pinterest board where i can have a "race bucket list." here are just a few of the races i'd love to do someday (in no particular order)!

one of my absolute favorite places in the world is sleeping bear dunes in glen arbor, michigan. it is so beyond beautiful there that i can't even describe it. this is why i really, really want to do the sleeping bear half marathon someday. i think i should prioritize this one because its relatively close to home and being in this part of the state during october is just magical.

i've never run a marathon. i think i want to, though. and one i'd love to do is the paris marathon. i've heard from others that this marathon takes you on a tour of all the amazing and famous sites paris has to offer. i can only imagine running by the eiffel tour or notre dame. it would seem more like a sight-seeing jog, rather than a race! (well, that's what i would try to tell myself anyway!)

i've heard great things about this race, but quite honestly, i just want to be around the turf that steve prefontaine once ran on.

while it would be a dream to be fast enough to qualify for the boston marathon, i'm just not sure that its in my running future. so at a minimum, i'd love to do the boston half marathon to experience a piece of the legend and legacy.

in truth, i want to do all the disney races, but i haven't yet made it to a race in disneyland, so i have to prioritize that first. the tinker bell half marathon has the cutest medals, too, so it is top on my disney list.

so! what races are on your bucket list? do you have a pinterest board for them? share the link with me so i can follow :)

Your mention of the Paris Marathon reminded me of Spirit of the Marathon II. Did you ever see it? I know the first one was about the Chicago Marathon, but this one followed runners training for and running the Rome Marathon. Doing a marathon in a city with as much culture as Rome (or Paris) would be amazing.

  2. I'd like to run the Chicago Rock and Roll. You should run the Plymouth Hot Chocolate with me in November!

I love northern michigan! My family and I vacation in traverse city every summer and the sleeping bear dunes is often a stop! I didn't know they have a 1/2 and full! I will definitely have to add that to my bucket list!

  4. I think any race up there would be amazing. You're so lucky to go every summer! Its such a magical place. I've actually heard that Traverse City has the most triathletes in the country (or something similar).....

  5. I saw both documentaries, actually! Liked both of them for different reasons. The second certainly makes running in Europe sound much more appealing :) And think of the amazing post-race food you'd get to eat!

  6. I'm signed up the Sleeping Bear marathon! Unfortunately, I'm having hip issues again after a couple 20+ milers (stress fracture history, in both my femurs & my hip) so it's possibly on the out....I'll keep you posted.

Awesome runs lately, lady. Keep it up!

  7. 1) I'm jealous you're signed up! I want to do that race so badly!
    2) I'm so sorry to hear about your hip! I hope it gets better and you can run again. I have a history of stress fractures too, so I totally understand what that feeling is like. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!
