june plank-a-day challenge

planks are one thing that i could easily do once a day that would help boost my core strength for running. and since they can take less than two minutes a day to do, i've decided to do a plank challenge. but i didn't like any of the ones i was finding on pinterest or through random searching, so i made my own.

my version for june doesn't focus on holding a plank for as long as possible. it focuses on challenging my muscles by doing different variations of the basic plank throughout the month. each week is different with the third week being the hardest (in my opinion). 


i put the plank-a-day challenge into a public google calendar, so if you'd like to join or add it to your calendar, feel free! i put a link to each exercise in the event description, and the title of the event tells you what the challenge is for each day. if you join in, use the hashtag #plankaday on twitter or whatever. i think this is the common hashtage used for plank challenges.

i think i'll try and do this every other month, maybe every month if i'm feeling it. i already know the next challenge i create will focus on side planks :) happy planking!

  2. I've been slowly doing this, thanks to PT. Last night in order to build up my endurance, he had me to 20 sec plank, rest 20, repeat 3 times. Rest 1 min, then plank until I can't anymore. I was exhausted, but am going to try to rotate that in with regular. There is no way in HELL I can attempt your planks yet :) Maybe July. Just surviving 45 seconds without moving is tough enough for me ;)

  3. Wow! That sounds exhausting!! (But also sounds worth the effort, right??)

    You could totally do these planks - just change the duration!!
