friday food fetish: gnu fiber bars

you guys. when i find something i love, i have to share it with you. it would be selfish of me not to! today i have to share my love for gnu fiber bars. i bought these after getting a sample in one of my subscription boxes. gnu foods has a special deal where you can buy 5 bars for $7.99 with free shipping for first time orderers. so why not buy some more? with a deal like that!

these bars have a whopping 12 grams of fiber (nearly 48% of your daily requirement), which is what i found most appealing about these bars. as someone who is always trying to ensure a healthy tummy and digestive system, getting enough fiber is important for me.

the bars all have a very granola texture and taste to them - which i like. i avoid most granola type bars because of the added sugars, sweeteners or artificial ingredients most companies pack into them. the ingredients list is all ingredients i can pronounce and easily recognize, which is another huge plus as i try to steer away from processed foods. oh, and the calorie count is spot on. most granola bars have 200 or more calores in them. these only have 130-140, which is a perfect snack sized portion!

i enjoyed all the flavors of these bars, but hands down my favorites are the orange cranberry (tastes like seasonal heaven) and the cinnamon raisin (just like an oatmeal rasin cookie).

bottom line:

i love these bars. while you can find them at most of your health food stores, i like to buy mine online for the sake of buying bulk (and they have these cute mini gnu bars that i can't find in stores). if you're looking for a new snack bar to try, and can use some more fiber in your diet, you need to give these a try. if you get enough fiber, you might want to try half a bar, or pass on these in case your tummy doesn't respond too well. try the cinnamon raisin, orange cranberry or banana walnut flavors, if you need a nudge in a direction.
