my RAW goal is 150. what's yours?

edit: a list of those participating in RAW 2012 can be found here! how many miles can we pledge this winter??

when i ran cross country in high school, one of the ways our coach would encourage us to keep in shape during the off season was to participate in the RAW challenge. RAW = run(ning) all winter. it's a challenge of how tough you can be when the weather gets wintery and how far you will push yourself to get miles in when its freezing cold.

though i'm many years removed from my high school running days, i'm harnessing the spirit of RAW and using it to motivate myself to get my miles in and my feet on the pavement during the snowy, wintery days of michigan (unless global warming takes its toll, of course. it was 56 degrees warm on sunday).

my RAW goal is 150 miles over the course of december, january and february. that's 50 miles a month, which is a steep hill for me to get to as i've put in about 15 miles for the month of november! but i'm always down for a good challenge and staying in running condition throughout the winter will put me in great shape for training for a fast 5k come spring.

aside from the 150 mile goal, i also want to have a max run distance of 8 miles sometime throughout the next three months. 8 miles would be a great success for me and a tough distance to work towards. i normally wouldn't run that far unless i was training for a 1/2 marathon, but there can always be exception to the rules. :)

so what's your RAW goal? are you challenging yourself to keep your running shoes busy during the cool winter months? if so, i encourage you to steal the graphic above with pride and let everyone know what your RAW goal is! it would be awesome to get a RAW momentum going and keep people moving during the winter. are you ready? i challenge you to RAW!

if you decide to join the challenge and place a graphic on your blog (or if you join without a blog), let me know in the comments and i'll get a page going to give tribute to all those who are RAW in 2012!

    1. Yay! You can totally get to your 90 mile goal! Getting in one extra run a week, or adding one one mile a week to a run can really add up!

I modified my goal to 175 miles. I have to admit, I have been a little lazy this month.
