Recipe of the Week: Healthier Bacon Ranch Dip - Perfect for Tailgating!




tailgating and football season is right around the corner, and that means a bunch of delicious and tempting food to enjoy (and avoid). my goal this football season is to make some of my favorite tailgating recipes in lighter, healthier versions. 

first up: dip. who doesn't love dip? typical "healthy" dip can be flavorless and bland - no fun. this version is protein packed, low in fat and full of flavor. what more could you want? i'm sure this will be a tailgate staple for us this fall! 


Bacon Ranch Dip
Servings: 12 (2 tablespoons a serving)
Weight Watchers Points+: 1 point per serving!

- 3/4 cup light sour cream
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions (or less, depending on how much you like green onions!)
- 6oz plain low fat greek yogurt
- 3 tablespoons ranch dressing seasoning (should be the exact amount in 1 packet)
- 1/4 cup bacon pieces (50% less fat)
- 1/8 cup reduced fat parmesan cheese
- minced garlic (optional)



this is so easy. take all of the above ingredients, and combine them!


once combined, refrigerate for a few hours. you may want to taste the dip after an hour, to decide if you're happy with the flavor (if you want more bacon or more green onions). otherwise, 3 hours in the fridge should be enough for the flavors to meld nicely!

once your dip is chilled, mix it up and serve with your favorite veggies. if you want to get pinteresty-cute, serve your dip in a hollowed out pepper, like i did below. this recipe makes enough dip to fill one medium/large sized pepper, with some extra for refilling.
