friday fitness fashion: diy workout t-shirt

i love pinterest and its hard to ignore all the fun and crafty tutorials that float around everyone's boards. i took notice of a diy workout shirt tutorial that seemed almost too easy to be true. the tutorial is from catherine @ rabbitfoodformybunnyteeth, and there are 7 steps to making the shirt. seemed like the perfect thing to do with my race shirt from the firecracker 5k, and a good plan for all upcoming race shirts in my near future :)

here's how the shirt looked before i started hacking away at it with scissors:

the tutorial was easy to follow. all you do is make the appropriate cuts, do some knot-tying and fabric twirling and you've got a cute workout shirt.

this is where the knot tying and fabric twisting comes in

and the finished product looks like this (in case you didn't catch on, the photo of me in the shirt at the top is the finished product, too):

bottom line:
if you've got a bunch of t-shirts around that you don't know what to do with, or don't know how to make a little more functional (i hate sleeves, so this is perfect for me), i highly recommend this tutorial! a+

  1. I need to do this! I have so many t's I know I won't wear, and they're sometimes just so heavy and bulky.

    1. Highly recommend - it barely felt like I was wearing a shirt, and not in a skanky way :)
