Recipe of the Week: Turkey BLAT (5 Points)

i love blts. they are salty, they are crispy, they are juicy and they are delicious. but they are also loaded with lots of calories, fat and carbs (depending on the bread). so naturally, i needed to find a blt that would satisfy all my taste bud needs and still help me with making better, healthier food choices. behold, the turkey blat (the "a" stands for avocado). this sandwich has my own, homemade avocado spread which is light, creamy, has healthy fats and is low on points! i also used turkey bacon, which can crisp up just like the real stuff but is a good lean protein. to get rid of the carbs found in two slices of bread, i used an awesome 2 point tortilla to wrap my sandwich in. you can also eat this on a lettuce leaf, if you don't like tortillas and more power to you if you can make the lettuce curl up and stick (which i cannot figure out how to do).

turkey blat
yields: 1 sandwich
weight watchers+ points: 5 (includes avocado spread)

- turkey bacon
- lettuce
- tomato
- avocado spread (see below)
- tortillas (i used the whole wheat tortilla from sante fe tortilla company, they are fabulous and are only 2 points each. found at sam's club)

your kitchen will smell like deliciousness. you're welcome ;)

cook your turkey bacon as directed (i popped mine into the oven at 400 degrees for about 10 minutes). slather 1/2 tablespoon of the avocado spread on your tortilla. pile on as many tomatoes and lettuce as you want, and then place two strips of turkey bacon on top. roll up your tortilla, and you're ready to eat!

avocado spread
yields: 1/2 cup avocado spread
weight watchers+ points: 2 points per tablespoon

- 1 medium avocado
- Fresh basil (add more or less to taste, i probably used about 1/3 cup of leaves)
- 3 tablespoons Kraft Mayo Made with Olive Oil
- Juice from 1 medium lime
- 1/2 garlic clove

gotta love the bright green color

toss all ingredients for the spread into a food processor, and blend baby blend!

alicia's kitchen (and mouth) approved!

enjoy! and if you have any other variations of the blt, please share! i'd love to try them.
